Type of Work: reforestation with native species, restoration of degraded shorelines, maintenance of existing natural wetlands. The tasks can include moving stones, planting tress, cutting and indigenous plants and shrubs, digging holes, etc.

Study Theme: eco-development as alternative to depopulation

Location: Salamanca

Accommodation: in rooms with 4-6 beds each.

Description: Monleras is a small village struggling against depopulation and general decay of rural culture, like many others in the region of Castilla. The local population is committed to search alternatives for their common future. It is a key aim of the community to become more sustainable and encourage eco tourism, to preserve the natural resources.

Language: Spanish and English

Qualifications: interest in simple rural lifestyle and community development. You should like physical work outdoors.

The project : Since 1999, the EPMM centre of   Sainte Enimie and études ET chantiers join together in order to organize workcamps every year. Those workcamps take place within the context of a long-term project of restoration and improvement of the reception sites for groups and outside activities of the centre. Located in the gorges of the Tarn, the EPMM organization welcomes groups for outdoor activities. Over the last two years, the volunteers have made redevelopment works around the centre.

Works : You will continue to work on a stairway made of stones.

Activities : Part of the activities will be proposed by the EPMM center and the leader but your ideas are welcomed and everything can be discussed. So be imaginative, the workcamp is a place for having fun! We don't expect you to do activities on your own, you will live an experience in a group and things are planned within the group.

Location : The EPMM centre is situated in the famous and beautiful gorges of the Tarn, close to the medieval village of Sainte Enimie (540 inhabitants) in the department of Lozère (28 km on the south of Mende, the closest city). Sainte Enimie is one of the most beautiful villages of France. It is a great place for nature lovers.

Accommodation : You will sleep in the center, in rooms for 3 or 4 persons.
